Gearlab’s headquarter is set in the vibrant urban setting of Taipei, less than an hour drive from rushing rivers, lush vegetation,
craggy cliffs, an impressive set of national parks. A subtropical island in the Pacific Ocean, Taiwan also boasts miles of
magnificent ocean shoreline.

Gearlab engineers and staff are avid kayakers, cyclists, hikers, rock climbers, surfers and paragliders.
We are passionate about exploring the hundreds (yes!) of 10,000+ ft peaks—including the highest peak in Northeast Asia -
and the incredible waters that surround the beautiful island. Our wild passion with nature coupled with relentless engineering
has led to the development of ingenious, efficient gear that make paddling and outdoor expeditions worldwide better than ever.
Our Co-Founder
Gearlab was founded by Chung-Shih Sun and a group of industrial designers in 2009.
Chung-Shih is also a long time board member of the Taiwan Kayaking Association, promoting paddling sports,
maritime culture, and environmental preservation.
